Ibiza
We dropped into Ibiza for one day without staying overnight. I regret it a bit because we did not attend any parties. I hope there will still be an opportunity to visit this island for purely party purposes.
It is an extremely liberated island. On the beach, young girls were topless as well as old. There is a smell of marijuana in the air. During the day, people relax on the beach and rest up for the evening parties. The beaches are full of clubs with good music, and fabulous drinks. I’m a member of a Facebook group about Ibiza and I’ve noticed that everyone of all ages parties there. Often older people celebrate their birthdays in Ibiza;). This all happens in the southern part of the island, where the world’s most famous DJs play.
The northern part of the island is a resort for families with children.
We got to Ibiza by the Baleària ferry from Mallorca. You will read about it (click here).
Where is Ibiza?
Ibiza is the third-largest island in the Balearic archipelago (after Mallorca and Minorca) and belongs to Spain. The island is located in the Mediterranean Sea and its area is about 574 km. The distance from Mallorca is 197 km.
Dalt Vila
We started our trip with a walk from the port to the Old Town. Unfortunately, we went the wrong way. Tired of the baking sun, we found a cab that took us to Santa Maria Cathedral. We walked the narrow streets and arrived at the Old Town’s main square, Plaza de Vila, where we stopped for a meal. Most of the Old Town is listed by UNESCO.
After resting, we rented a scooter (€60) and drove to the beach.
Playa d'en Bossa
Playa d’en Bossa is a public beach with sandy and the longest in Ibiza, about 3 km. On the beach, we can find everything we need to relax. An interesting experience was flying planes right overhead, since the airport is located about 9 km from this beach.
Directly on the beach is the famous Ushuaia Club. It is an exclusive 5* hotel, club, and spa complex. The stage is located by the pool, and you can enjoy the party from the hotel balcony. Well cheap it is not. Overnight €350, breakfast €50. The location is great and on the other side of the nightclub Hï Ibiza.
Es Vedrá Island
Next, we went to Cala D’Hort beach, from where we admired the view of Es Vedrá Island. It is a small island with an altitude of 382 meters. The island used to be inhabited by people, but today only animals can be found there.
There are many legends about this piece of land. They say, among other things, that Es Vedrá was once the tip of Atlantis, and according to the words of the prophet Nostradamus, it is the only place on Earth that will survive the end of the world. According to some stories, the famous Carthaginian leader Hannibal was born on the island. Homing pigeons lose their orientation in this place, this has been confirmed by many breeders of these animals.
One thing is certain, unusual physical phenomena occur near Es Vedrá, as it is the third place on Earth in terms of magnetic field strength. This is due to the iron content found inside the rocks. Compasses and electrical devices stop working properly. We noticed a lack of coverage on our phones.
We spent a few moments on the beach, and we had to come back because our return ferry was leaving at 8 pm, and we had to be at the check-in desk at 7 pm.
Finally, we had a nice situation at the gas station. When we wanted to refuel our scooter before returning, it turned out that we had to pay first and then refuel. We stood for a while and contemplated what to do. Some nice local guy helped us with gasoline for a few cents with a smile on his face.
